Father Ted
Graham Linehan & Arthur Mathews' "Father Ted" took the well-worn but ever-reliable scenario of entirely dissimilar men living together in a claustrophobic environment - as utilised in 'Steptoe & Son', 'Porridge', 'Rising Damp', 'The Young Ones', etc. - and refreshed it for the 1990s with a pinch of priestly surrealism and a barrage of bizarre Catholicism:
"so vague that no-one really knows what it's all about"
The result was a series destined to be fêted as the last great sitcom of the 20th Century .....
