Elin Kleopatra Danielson was born in Noormarkku on 3 September 1861. In 1876, she moved to Helsinki to enroll in the Finnish Art Society drawing school. From 1878-80 she studied in Adolf von Becker's private academy; from 1883-85 at the Académie Colarossi in Paris. In 1885, she returned to Finland for a year, but headed back to Paris in 1888. In 1895, she visited Italy, where she settled permanently in 1898. She participated in shows in both Finland and Italy until her death in 1919.
