The work Places is the beginning of a series portraying places that have moved me to paint them. The Forest of Ponar in Lithuania a place of poignant echoes, the silver birches and pines silent witnesses to a thousand horrors. Auschwitz, the end of the track, the end of everything for countless souls. On a lighter theme the long and lonely motorway driving home, listening to the radio watching the road, the lights the views. The ever changing view from my studio window,trees reflected in the lake, glitter and shadow sometimes forbidding othertimes joyful.
