Phespirit goes to France

Were it not for the still relatively-novel convenience of the Channel Tunnel, it is debatable whether Phespirit would have considered a trip to Lille.

Of course, if he'd known beforehand that Lille's Musée des Beaux Arts is the second museum in France (allegedly) after the Louvre, he may have shown a greater interest in the place.

The rest of the city has a good mix of French urban culture, too: a few parks and gardens, venerable old buildings, innovative modern architecture, a fashionable town square, a traditional town market, a modern metro and innumerable shops.

All good stuff.
