Phespirit joins Karol Wojtyła in the Chapel of Saint Kinga at the Wieliczka Salt Mine, 101m below ground.

This statue of the Polish Pope was skilfully crafted out of green salt by miner / sculptor Stanislow Aniol in 1999. Very well done.

FROM THE RUBBLE OF WAR

The Old Town Square of Warsaw, utterly razed by the Germans in 1944, has been meticulously reconstructed to the glory of its 17th/18th Century designs.

So shockingly precise is this resurrection that Phespirit is now inclined to question the authenticity of any cityscape which boasts an intact historical architecture.
