Phespirit goes to Italy
Rome February/March 2002
THE BATHS OF CARACALLA
Emperor Caracalla (188-217AD) extended Roman citizenship to all free men to raise taxes for pet projects like his baths.
Over 1,600 bathers a day luxuriated in the opulence of this temple to earthly leisure.
ON THE PALATINE HILL
Never mind the ruins .....
..... what a splendid tree.
VIA APPIA ANTICA - THE APPIAN WAY

The remains of countless mausoleums and tombs line the Via Appia Antica - Phespirit was disappointed that he could not identify the tomb of Seneca among them.
