Phespirit goes to Estonia

MINUS FOURTEEN ON TOOMPEA HILL

Mercifully, -14°C was as cold as it got for Phespirit during his time in Estonia.

Cold enough.

On Toompea Hill he was just grateful that there was no windchill to add on top.

SHEET ICE ON THE GULF OF FINLAND

The broad expanse of white to the right of the railing is the Gulf of Finland, icebound and covered with six inches of snow.

Tallinn is in the background.

Phespirit is unsure what the large twisted coathanger represents.

LOOKING OUT ON TARTU

Here is Tartu, as seen from the roof of the town's tallest building, Emajõe Ärikeskus.

The gothic steeple is St. John's Church.
The strip of ice is the River Emajõgi.
The rest is not as bad as it looks.
