Phespirit goes to Singapore
Singapore     March/April 2003

CHANGI PRISON MUSEUM CHAPEL

This simple chapel is a replica of the one in Changi Prison during the second world war.

The short written messages from ex-POWs in the adjoining museum are equally simple and extremely moving.

Changi, Singapore: Changi Prison Museum Chapel.

BUKIT TIMAH NATURE RESERVE

Sadly, no Long-Tailed Macaques or Striped Tit-Babblers on view, but Phespirit did see:

  • a Monitor Lizard crossing his path;
  • some little squirrelly-things on trees;
  • a Greater Racket-Tailed Drongo;

..... the latter being a type of bird, in flight.

Bukit Timah, Singapore: Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.

TANJONG BEACH SENTOSA ISLAND

Phespirit felt only a few raindrops fall during his time in southeast Asia.

As chance would have it, they all fell on the only afternoon he went to the beach; but he sunbathed anyway, unperturbed by thunder rumbling ominously away over Malaysia.

Sentosa, Singapore: Tanjong Beach Sentosa Island.
