Phespirit goes to Gambia
Kotu     November 2003

THE SANDS OF KOTU STRAND

It took Phespirit about an hour to walk from the northern extreme of Kotu Strand (under the palm trees in this photograph), down to the Seaview Beach Bar in Kololi, where his way was obstructed by contractors digging up the beach and laying pipes.

Kombo Beach Hotel is built about a third of the way down this broad ribbon of sand.

THE SANDS OF SANYANG BEACH

Sanyang Beach is undeveloped for tourists, but that doesn't deter the Bumsters.

The security-patrolled area in front of a lone beach bar is the only hassle-free zone.

Still, Phespirit had a nice swim here.

THE SANDS OF JINACK ISLAND

There are no Bumsters on Jinack Island.

There are no tourist hotels, no sunbeds, no shops, no bar touts, no souvenir sellers, no interruptions, no noise ..... not a sound.

There is a simple unobtrusive restaurant by the landing pier. The rest is perfect.
