The 'Bavarian Lion' and the New Lighthouse guard the entrance to Lindau harbour.

In foul weather Lake Constance has a slate grey hue tinged with the corrupted green of weathered stone. When the sun comes out it brightens up to a brilliant spangly jade.

But here it is in foul weather.

Dating back to the 11th century, St Peter's Church is the oldest building on Lindau.

The 'passion cycle' on the walls is the only surviving fresco by Hans Holbein the Elder.
