Phespirit goes to India
tour     February/March 2005

CAPE CONFLUENCE

This is Kanniyakumari, the southern cape.

A modest pavillion marks the southernmost tip of India. Steps lead down to the water at the point where the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal all converge.

Offshore stands the Vivekananda Memorial and the 40m-high statue of Thiruvalluva.

CAPE CLEANSING

It is thought to be especially auspicious for pilgrims to wash themselves at the bathing ghat where 'three oceans' converge and, in doing so, cleanse themselve of sin.

Here is Phespirit, ever the optimist.

CAPE CLOSURE

When at Kanniyakumari one must observe the setting sun.

Here's why.
