CAPE CONFLUENCE
This is Kanniyakumari, the southern cape.
A modest pavillion marks the southernmost tip of India. Steps lead down to the water at the point where the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal all converge.
Offshore stands the Vivekananda Memorial and the 40m-high statue of Thiruvalluva.
CAPE CLEANSING
It is thought to be especially auspicious for pilgrims to wash themselves at the bathing ghat where 'three oceans' converge and, in doing so, cleanse themselve of sin.
