1 Lago del Predil

Lago del Predil lies opposite Kranjska Gora on a convenient little loop of roads bisected by the Italy-Slovenia border.

Phespirit headed south from Kranjska Gora, up to the Vršič Pass, down the other side to the town of Trenta (negotiating a total of 50 switchbacks en route), southwest along the Soča valley via Soča to Bovec, then back north via Kluze fortress to the Italian border.

The eastern end of Lago del Predil is roughly 3km from the border (a painless crossing). Completing his loop, Phespirit headed north as far as a T-junction with Tarvisio to the west and Slovenia to the east. He took the east turn passing Lago del Fusine, back across the border, through the little villages of Rateče and Podkoren, and into Kranjska Gora - a pleasant day out.
