Phespirit goes to Croatia
Korčula September 2005
OVER THE CATHEDRAL ROOF
From the top of the Revelin tower - gateway to the old town of Korčula - this is the vista northeastwards over the roof of St. Mark's Cathedral towards the mountain tops of the Peljesac peninsula.
It wasn't the sunniest day of the year.
UNDER THE CATHEDRAL ROOF
St. Mark's Cathedral, Korčula, is home to a tremendous variety of intriguing objects and architectural quirks.....
This stone ciborium was erected by Marko Andrijic in 1486. Beneath it stands an altar holding the relics of St. Theodore (martyred in Rome) together with a painting dubiously attributed to Tintoretto.
VELIKO JEZERO & SVETE MARIJE
Mljet has a medium monastery on an ickle island in a large lake - the sort of thing that Phespirit encountered in Bled, Slovenia.
Blejski Otok in Lake Bled is perfect - Svete Marije in Veliko Jezero is merely lovely.
