AN ENGLISH SEAFRONT

Having built promenades along all their own fashionable south coast resorts, the gentry of nineteenth century England moved on to the south of France and, in the 1820s, built the Promenade des Anglais in Nice.

This is it, as seen from Colline du Château, just beyond the Quai des États Unis.

Nice, France: An English Seafront.

A JEWISH MOURNING

Oh, to buried in tomb as beautiful as that of Ioseph Landau and Isabelle Landau, graced with this exquisite, delicate sculpture in the Jewish Cemetery on Colline du Château.

Sculpture credit - Prof. R. Romanelli, Piazza s. spirito 26 Florence . Liteinaia 36 S. Petersbourg

Aimè et regrettè de tous ceux qui
l'ont connu priez pour lui!

Nice, France: A Jewish Mourning.

A SWEDISH TRIUMPH

This football pitch, overlooked by Fort Carré in Antibes, was the venue for a quarter-final of the 1938 World Cup.

Final score: Sweden 8 - 0 Cuba.

Stadiums were a tad larger when the World Cup returned to France sixty years later.

Antibes, France: A Swedish Triumph.
