The Freedom Monument is at the centre of the crossroads that separates the old town from the interesting bits of the new town.
Erected in 1935 it stands over 350m, which makes it the tallest monument of its kind in Europe. So the book says, anyway.

Dinaberg (in yellow and black) successfully defend a Skonto corner early in the second half. Sadly for them, Skonto were already a goal to the good by that time and would go on to win comfortably, 2-0.
The capacity crowd went wild .....

Phespirit stands on Vecāķi beach, looking out across the Baltic Sea. Beneath his feet the sand is of such fine grain that he would rate it as second only to the dust-like sand of the Sahara.
