Phespirit goes to Slovenia

RIVER DRAVA & LENT

This is the riverfront area of Lent, as viewed from Glavni Most - a red-painted iron bridge that towers above the Drava.

Observe the Old Vine House, across which grows the world-famous 400-year-old noble vine itself. Being without leaves in winter, it is a bit tricky to detect in this photograph.

RIVER DRAVA & MARIBORSKI OTOK

Mariborski otok is a small wooded island in the middle of the Drava at the western edge of the city. Here, Phespirit sits at its tip.

There's an outdoor swimming pool complex at the heart of the island, but it was closed for the winter when Phespirit visited. A pity, given the extraordinary high temperatures.

RIVER DRAVA & GLAVNI MOST

The River Drava belongs to its wildfowl.

Mixed in with all the Mute Swans, Phespirit spotted Mallards, Pochards, Tufted Ducks, and Coots. The good folk of Maribor ensure the birds are well fed with bread and seed.

The bridge in the distance is Glavni Most.
