This extraordinary basalt church dominates the otherwise ordinary town of Arucas. It is the only example of Gothic architecture on Gran Canaria.
Completed in 1977, it's but an infant.

Firgas is literally a name on people's lips, it being a leading brand of bottled water.
Townsfolk have celebrated their association with water by building this tasteful cascade on Paseo de Gran Canaria.

By comparison with Arucas and Firgas, the island's capital, Las Palmas, is huge.
