LINFORD AERIAL RECONNAISSANCE

Look from any aeroplane flying into London along the East Thames corridor, to see:

1. Linford - the Readymix concrete factory;
2. Linford - the bit with the shops;
3. Linford - the bit near the railway line;
4. East Tilbury;
5. East Tilbury Junior School;
6. The River Thames;

The white bits are sand and gravel quarries.

ZOOM IN ON NUMBER FIVE

Behind this memorial to local Bata workers who died in the Second World War is East Tilbury Junior; Phespirit's first school.

Over on the opposite side of the road is the old Bata shoe factory; hence the memorial.

THAMES AT COALHOUSE FORT

If Phespirit has a favourite area in Thurrock it is that surrounding Coalhouse Fort along the River Thames at East Tilbury.

Parklands, marshlands, sea wall footpaths and borderline clean air to clear the mind.
